Spider Web Chandelier

Here's a kitchen/dining room from Metropolitan Home, July/August 2007. The fixture reminds me of the Edison Chandelier by Pottery Barn (although surely that is a knock off of this?). I love how it feels like a spider web. This doesn't seem that hard to build yourself -- I'm wondering if I have a room it would suit.

Love this... but I'd be compelled to change out the bulbs for compact fluorescent ones, which would ruin the steampunk effect.

Great idea - I actually have one in my kitchen - easily made - I bought a lamp and changed alot of things. The electrical basic is hardest to get but IKEA just happened to have something I could use.

It's unique. I like the smaller one better as I'm slightly particular about lighting. We're in the process of buying an octopus chandelier. Very excited.

Wow, that's really neat. I would love to have one in my future home some day.

With regards to the Ikea fixture..... can I ask which one you used? Does it require expert electrical skills? I am desperate to figure out a less $$ way to make such a simple fixture.
