I believe that Steampunk is more than just brass and watchparts. It's finding a way to combine the past and the future in an aesthetic pleasing yet still punkish way. It's living a life that looks old-fashioned, yet speaks to the future. It's taking the detritus of our modern technological society and remaking it into useful things. Join me as I search for items for my house that combine the scientific romanticism of the Victorians with our real present and imagined future.
I've seen this before in a bathroom. Instead of having a traditional wall paper towel holder they had a roll of paper towels on a set of pipes connected with a right angle connector.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! I love this idea.
ReplyDeleteI've done a set like the second link. It's pretty easy to do but they're not cheap. Very very sturdy though and they look super neat so it's well worth the money spent on them.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of how the first set was done too. I can see myself doing those in another area of the house.
just saw something very similar to this on etsy.

i really like the look- think it would be cool in a kichen.
I've only just realized that I could "follow" and actually keep up instead of trying to remember to stop by now and again ... whew ...
ReplyDeleteLove this blog, even though it makes me completely jealous. :)
For this post, I'm wondering: Where could I find cardboard that is as dense as this? It obviously makes for an outstanding shelf, and I'd be inclined to use it for a craft stamp as well.
