Bruce and Melanie Rosenbaum -- also known as ModVic -- have not only created the most steampunked house ever, they are also opening it up for tours as part of the Sharon, Massachusetts Old House Tour on May 2nd.
Here's a sneak peak of the house -- there are many more images, projects, and how-tos at the online property showcase and the ModVic site.
ModVic is also sponsoring a Steapunk Form and Function Design Competition, with entrants exhibited at the Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation in Waltham MA from October 22, 2010 to May 10, 2011. Pretty neat!

Bruce and Melanie did a sensational job with this residence. I hope to see it in person soon! Thanks for the post.
I thought the Form & Function Competition was a great idea...right up until the $25 entry fee.
House is way cool.
I hear ya', Waterbug Guy :)
However running these events costs a veritable personal fortune.
I'm quite sure the $25 fee will barely offset the costs. This observation is based on my personal experience curating the first two Steampunk Art and Design exhibitions (Bridgehampton and Oxford) which were not only free admission events but also had all the bells and whistles- advertising, promotion, shipping costs, legal fees, travel, printing, fully catered Opening Parties and on and on...
Best Regards,
Art Donovan
Not to mention there will be thousands of dollars in prizes.
Thank you, Tom!
Warmest Regards, art
Thank you Art and Tom! Bruce
Now that I have seen it forst hand, i can report that this house is beyond words and the gracious hosts were most accomodating with wonderful stories to tell.
As far as the competition goes, Art speaks the truth! The entry fee is peanuts compared to being a part of such a great experience. I too have (and am currently) curating Steampunk events, and the admission fee barely covers all that the curator has to do to make the event a success.
Kudo to Bruce for all he is doing and will do in the future of Steampunk!
I'm working on attaining this look :) LOVE it
