Ms. Heather Morris, a reader, spotted some rather steampunk finds recently at Anthropologie.
The "Old World Lamp" incredibly seems to combine distressed cotton-linen, a globe, and a light into one perfect piece. I'd put this into my Airship Room, if I actually had one.
Also charming are the colored chemistry lab vases -- I suspect lab glass was never actually made in these colors, but then I also find that clear glass ones tend to get "lost," visually, in a room, so this might be a good antidote.
Ms. Morris also points out the tea bowl lanterns and inlaid pearl light switch covers.

That's a nifty balloon lamp, but ye gods, $248! I'm going to try my hand at making it from thrifted goods, only with a dirigible shape. Thanks for the idea!
On the lab glass: Buy the clear, hit the craft store and get glass paint. Tint your own according to your decor. Cheaper, too.
That lamp is gorgeous! I like your idea of an airship room. Personally, .. I have no idea why, but I've always liked hot air balloons. It was very nice of Heather to share, as well.
One of my major complaints about Anthropologie.... some of their prices are just ridiculous.
I'm still trying to figure out if they do that just so you'll snap up their normally priced items, thinking you've really gotten a deal. "Hey, I found something that's not six hundred dollars!"
As far as I know, the recession is still in full swing, and I am not an heiress. So this will be a great DIY inspiration.
