The menu changes daily. So does the kraft paper roll. I love this idea -- wonder where you could use it in a house? |
The "card catalog" style drawers are for tea. |
I believe that Steampunk is more than just brass and watchparts. It's finding a way to combine the past and the future in an aesthetic pleasing yet still punkish way. It's living a life that looks old-fashioned, yet speaks to the future. It's taking the detritus of our modern technological society and remaking it into useful things. Join me as I search for items for my house that combine the scientific romanticism of the Victorians with our real present and imagined future.

The kraft paper roll looks like a contractor paper roll of paper. They're like $10 at home improvement store. Bet it would make a great addition to an office for your daily to do list or brainstorming session.
ReplyDeleteOh the brainstorming session thing is good because you could wind the ideas back up on to the roll of paper and pull them down again when you're out of inspiration
I love this - the kraft paper roll is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI love your philosophy. You most certainly are a vintage soul. Thanks for sharing your photos. Join me on Shabby Friends.

wahoo! i'm only 45 minutes from philly...i'll have to go check it out on the weekend and report back.
ReplyDeleteOur local newspaper sells end-of-roll rolls of newsprint for just $5. They are great for making sewing patterns. You can also attach one to a table in your rec room (or the classroom if you are a teacher), and let the kids roll out lengths of it to draw on. If you are having a big event, you can also roll out pieces to use as disposable table-covers. Way back when I was in Highschool, the teachers would hang the rolls up in the hallways so the kids could do their graffitti without damaging the walls. Also handy for gift-wrapping really big gifts! You can guess that I am seriously into recycling, eh?
ReplyDeleteWow this is great I am a philadelphia steampunk jeweler and I never knew that this place existed. Just amazing!
