I believe that Steampunk is more than just brass and watchparts. It's finding a way to combine the past and the future in an aesthetic pleasing yet still punkish way. It's living a life that looks old-fashioned, yet speaks to the future. It's taking the detritus of our modern technological society and remaking it into useful things. Join me as I search for items for my house that combine the scientific romanticism of the Victorians with our real present and imagined future.

Ebay Auction of 1895 Foundry pieces
There's an interesting auction going on over at Ebay -- of a foundry built in 1895.
King Cotton says We are fortunate to have obtained over 5,000 foundry patterns from the Glover Machine Works, in business since 1895 and was closed last year.
I don't know much else about it, but there are a lot of neat things that I think are very steampunk.
Glover Machine Works Listings on Ebay
It's great to see core pieces like this, but torture not to be able to buy. I can see some really large chunks as tables--but it would probably be heavier than these floors would hold!
