This just transports me back to those childhood desires. Love this post as well...

I would love to incorporate something like that in my home... hm...dayseasehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12968487732883050716noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4119042395428183332.post-52986803520584958072010-01-15T14:50:58.128-08:002010-01-15T14:50:58.128-08:00I wish modern architects and home designers would ...I wish modern architects and home designers would incorporate puzzles and codes into houses more often; there is so little mystery in life today and things like this spark a little light of adventure where there normally is none.Home interior designhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13558778430967631327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4119042395428183332.post-41432369305836808552010-01-15T14:49:59.158-08:002010-01-15T14:49:59.158-08:00I wish modern architects and <a href="http...I wish modern architects and <a href="http://www.homedug.com/home designers would incorporate puzzles and codes into houses more often; there is so little mystery in life today and things like this spark a little light of adventure where there normally is none.Home interior designhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13558778430967631327noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4119042395428183332.post-81826311627436636882008-11-14T13:23:00.000-08:002008-11-14T13:23:00.000-08:00This is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time...This is the coolest thing I've seen in a long time. The lightswitches are wooden pegs, the doorknobs and latches are all handcarved wood, and there are secret mirrors so that Gillette could spy on his guests and the servants. There's also a secret staircase. The exterior is all sort of gothick fieldstone, and the dining room table slides on tracks.

The website doesn't have great pix but here's a lightswitch:

http://z.about.com/d/hartford/1/0/k/gcastle7.jpg

I also love Fonthill, in Doylestown, PA, not too far from Philadelphia. It's a castle built by a guy named Mercer who collected tiles. The interior is all tiles. Mercer also collected antique tools, and has them in a separate museum nearby.

http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/ny/travel/henry-chapman-mercers-fonthill-030727Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02786928916104721817noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4119042395428183332.post-25620332172863276922008-11-03T18:21:00.000-08:002008-11-03T18:21:00.000-08:00This is quite possibly my new most favorite thing ...This is quite possibly my new most favorite thing ever.

Nothing beats puzzles! :) This reminds me of my aunt's new boyfriend, actually.... He is a woodworker, and he's been leading her on a wild goose chase of a treasure hunt, with similarly well-hidden clues and encryptions.
We need more things like this, I think, to lessen the dullness of everyday living.Athena Grelehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13476840880364268418noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4119042395428183332.post-88430153305739209672008-11-03T16:38:00.000-08:002008-11-03T16:38:00.000-08:00This is quite possibly one of the most brilliant t...This is quite possibly one of the most brilliant things you've featured on your blog.
I wish modern architects and home designers would incorporate puzzles and codes into houses more often; there is so little mystery in life today and things like this spark a little light of adventure where there normally is none.

Now to contact that architect and ask if code-ifying my house would be plausible....Tessa Gracehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11781750392521108615noreply@blogger.com
