Have you seen this Chelsea loft?
Zeppelins are the overarching inspiration -- including a wrecked one on the way to the bedroom.
It could be yours for just $1.75M! Here's the listing, with more pictures. (There's an open house this Sunday, if you live in the area.) More pictures at the Wall Street Journal.
Thanks to Diana Peterfreund (who writes *killer* unicorn stories) for pointing this out.

You posted! I've missed the steampunk home goodness. This is awesome. I'd love to see a close-up of that tile wall. The bathroom cracks me up, though!

I love the extensive use of what is clearly salvaged industrial junk. It show the gritty side of steampunk that so many neo-Victorian steampunk designers miss. It also shows the starving artist roots of steam culture. As always I'm not sure wether to laugh or cry when I see something made of junk selling for 1.75 mil. Such is art capitalism and the current trendiness of steampunk. As a DIYer on a budget I'm sure that by the time my home looks this steamy all the trendy designers will say its passe. This loft will probably be redecorated by then. Maybe I can buy the bits they rip out.
Wow. Too cool.
i love it !
fab. i especially love the tv wall and the bedroom ceiling. the bathroom was a bit uninspired as compared to the rest of the house though.
yeah those bathrooms...'one of these rooms is doing its own thing, one of these rooms just doesn't belong...'
I must say, not at all my cup of tea.
WELCOME BACK! WE MISSED YOU!
I must admit, my first thought was "I have a Led Zeppelin wall, but a whole loft?"
I agree with the professor about the salvaged industrial junk. Too cool. But given real estate prices in Manhattan, I don't see this price as too far off base.
Wow, and only 1+ million? Pocket change-hahah. I agree with P. JS Greyshade, the salvaged industrial junk/repurposing is quite an art for this home. Its spectacular. Can't say I could live there, but it really is awesome to visit!
You get good design.

Ahh, if only I had a decent workshop, tons of time and money and some better woodworking skills I'd be doing that kind of work for myself.
As it is I can just drool over it.
This is incredible! Ingenious use of space and creating the atmosphere that you are anywhere but a loft in Chelsea
Wish I could afford this place. You always find the most amazing things to feature. Love!
I gave you a blog award! Irresistably Sweet
Too cool for school.
This is soooo greenful house and enjoy, love it! :-) by pR
It's me, Allen, the movie guy from the Maker Faire. Love the blog. Can't wait to talk with you next week about the movie idea. Btw, my boys were so excited about your spaceships they are dressing up as steampunkers for Sunday. If we get together next week, or the week after, I will show you scenes from our current movie, CERULEAN.
Awesome, utterly awesome!! Im based int he UK and just love all this sort of stuff - the intriguing rooms that look like an inventor's lair. We dont get this down in our conservatories south west.
Very cool house, I like it.
Sorry I haven't been by. Tech probs kept slowing me down.
We really love your blog's look, and Steampunk decor in general.
What I waswondering is, would you care to link up to a week-long part which started yesterday (11/6)? We're jst starting, but could use your help to jumpstart our crowd into trying new ways to steampunk it up.
If so, we'd welcome your input!

Thanks for your time, regardless of the outcome to this request.

Those waves will definitely suck you in. Very dangerous if it is in high tide.

love this home! we just moved ourselves. between the moving truck, the boxes, home insurance, a home security system, the post office and mountains of paperwork I've hardly had time to think about decorating. BUT - I think I just found some inspiration! thanks :)
